Feature Overview and Use Cases
Cintoo can be embedded directly inside another web application - such as Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) or any internal web portal - so users can access 3D data without leaving their existing tooling.
Once embedded, Cintoo and the host application communicate in real time. This enables a seamless experience where actions taken in one tool are reflected in the other.
Key capabilities:
- Navigate from an asset to its 3D location - select an asset or tag in the host application and Cintoo automatically positions the 3D view on the corresponding object.
- Navigate from 3D back to the asset - select an object in Cintoo and the host application identifies the matching asset.
- Location-aware filtering - Cintoo shows only the 3D data relevant to the site or location currently selected in the host application.
- Single sign-on - users already logged into the host application are automatically authenticated in Cintoo, with no separate login required.
This integration is designed for organizations that want to bring Cintoo's 3D contextualization directly into their existing digital platforms - whether that is an asset management system, a plant operations portal, or a data integration platform like Cognite CDF.
Requirements & Prerequisites
- Active Cintoo account with the relevant 3D data and tags already set up.
- A formal request to Cintoo to enable iFrame embedding for your environment. As part of this request, you must provide:
- Your Cintoo tenant URL (e.g.
aec.cintoo.com,us.cintoo.cloud, or your dedicated domain) - URL of the web application where Cintoo will be embedded
- Your Cintoo tenant URL (e.g.
Note: once submitted, Cintoo's team will authorize your domain and provide access to sandbox environment and API documentation.
- Tags in Cintoo must match the asset identifiers used in the host application (same tag IDs in both systems).
- Web application capable of embedding external content, with a development team available to handle the integration.
Known Limitations
- Not all Cognite environments are supported - embedding Cintoo inside Cognite Search & Canvas is not currently possible due to limitations in Cognite's platform architecture.
- Host-side integration is the customer's responsibility - Cintoo provides the embeddable component and integration documentation. The customer's development team is responsible for connecting it to their application.
- Domain registration required before go-live - for security reasons, only explicitly authorized domains can embed Cintoo. This must be set up in advance with Cintoo's team.
