Follow these steps to import 3D models into Cintoo projects from local hard drive.
Permissions: users with roles including Upload and Download Documents permission can import models from local disk to a Cintoo project.
1. Navigate to the desired work zone, or create a new work zone by clicking Add then Work Zone on the top right.
2. Click Upload models on Models from local disk tile or select Upload models from local disk from Add drop-down menu on the top right.
3. To upload a model in IFC/DWG/JT/STP/STEP/NWD/OBJ/RVT format from local hard drive, drag and drop files or click to select model file location.

Note: for OBJ format only mesh data is imported, texture and colors for now are not supported. Uploading DWG files that only contain 2D CAD lines (no 3D geometry) is supported.
Any unsupported characters, present in the name of the file being uploaded, are automatically replaced by underscore '_' and files are uploaded nevertheless.
4. For all model formats it's possible to set coordinates of Target point (central model point) by manually typing x, y, z coordinates (comma delimited).
With 3D View open click Pick coordinates from 3D View to define coordinates interactively.
Each subsequent click in 3D View changes the coordinates in Target point field.
5. For RVT format models choose Origin import setting corresponding to the choice of center of space in Cintoo:
- Project origin - model is positioned so that Project Base Point origin in Revit corresponds to origin in Cintoo (0,0,0).
Commonly used by 3D modelers to avoid issues with large coordinates, often referred as local coordinate system. - Survey point - model is positioned so that Survey/Internal origin point in Revit corresponds to origin in Cintoo (0,0,0).
Used in case model and point cloud need to match their real world coordinates.
If multiple RVT models are imported at the same time it's possible to apply the same Origin settings to all of them by clicking on Assign to all imported RVT.
6. Selected files will appear in the list, click Upload to begin the transfer. The model instantly appears in Resource Explorer and Data tab with pending status that could be recognized by loading icon between Name and Created by columns.
7. Email notification is sent once the model is ready to be viewed in Cintoo.
IFC export from Revit
When exporting IFCs from Revit, in IFC export setup options:
- Under Advanced, make sure to Include IFCSITE elevation in the site local placement origin.
- Under Level of Detail make sure to select the appropriate level of detail for the model geometry.
