Upload 3D Models from Local Hard Disk

Modified on Mon, 4 Nov at 1:45 PM

Follow these steps to import 3D models into your Cintoo Cloud projects from your local hard drive.

Note that the role you are assigned in the Cintoo project must have the "Upload and Download Documents" permission granted in order to do the following steps.

1. Open the Cintoo project in which you want to upload a model, and navigate to the desired Work Zone where the model will be imported, or create a new Work Zone folder.

2. Click the "Upload models" button or select "Upload models from local disk" from the drop-down menu on the top right side of the screen.

3. To upload a model in IFC/DWG/JT/STP/STEP/NWD/OBJ format from your local hard drive, drag and drop the files or click to select the model file location.

Note: please be aware that for OBJ format only the mesh data is imported, texture and colors for now are not supported.

The selected files will appear in the list, click "Upload" to begin the transfer. You will be notified by email once the model is ready to view in Cintoo.

  • Uploading DWG files that only contain 2D CAD lines (no 3D geometry) is also supported using this process.
  • When exporting IFCs from Revit, in the IFC export setup options:
    • Under "Advanced," make sure to “Include IFCSITE elevation in the site local placement origin.
    • Under "Level of Detail" make sure to select the appropriate level of detail for the model geometry.
