ESRI Cintoo Widget

This article describes how to connect to ESRI Cintoo Widget to integrate scan and model data from Cintoo project into ESRI environment. Reference is given between Web Application tools and instruments and their analogues in ESRI Cintoo Widget.

Prerequisite

Prior to exploring a Cintoo project in ESRI, the CRS (Coordinate Reference System) needs to be defined on the project level in Cintoo. This is a mechanism that allows to place scan data in ESRI correctly.
To do so follow these steps:

  1. Log into Cintoo. In My Projects find the project to be explored in ESRI.
  2. Click Edit Project

  3. In Edit project menu choose well CRS in Spatial Reference System field then click Update.


Connection

The widget is not yet integrated in Cintoo interface so to access Cintoo within ESRI please user the following link:

Click Log in to Cintoo.


Cintoo login pop-up appears inviting to enter Cintoo credentials and click Continue.


Click Allow in the next view to authorize ESRI widget to use the data from Cintoo account.


The main view changes to give options to switch between Accounts (if there are multiple ones) and Projects

Choose the right ones from drop-down menus and click:

  • Open in Cintoo to open the project in Web Application in a new browser tab
  • Open in ESRI to use ESRI Cintoo Widget

With Logout button it's possible to go back to Tenant selection menu if needed.


Warning: to have the data correctly displayed spatially please check if the CRS is well defined, like explained in Prerequisite.



Interface


Resources Explorer

In the top left corner the Project name is displayed.


On the left side on Resources panel there are 2 toggles for visibility of Scans and Models and
Work Zone Explorer showing only work zones containing either scan data or model data.


Display control options are available for each work zone including the root work zone - Show/Hide, Go to and Look at. Working in a similar way as in the Web Application.


3D Visualization panel

On the top left of the main view there are controls to Zoom in/out , Toggle to pan in 3D, Toggle to rotation in 3D and Reset map orientation. These are standard ESRI controls.


On the right there are Cintoo instruments similar to those found in Web Application.

Navigation

  • Scan - scan to scan navigation

  • 3D RGB

Display Settings - Backface Culling (Display Settings - Backface).


Note: use Backface Culling to get inside into solid buildings by removing walls or roof from visualization.


Comparison Tool (Comparison Tools - Scans and Models) - more details below.


Comparison Tool

Comparison Tool in ESRI Cintoo Widget is represented by Visual Diff tool from Cintoo. It's used to visualize the difference between any work zone or in all models vs all scans mode in an interactive way.


Once clicked Comparison Tool on the right, Visual Diff tool is turned on by default as All Models as To compare in red and All Scans as Reference in green (check Selecting datasets to compare for more details).


The panel on the top includes all visualization controls for Visual Diff tool.


  • On the left side - choice of color and workzone from drop-down menu related to To compare.


  • On the right side - choice of color and workzone from drop-down menu related to Reference.


  • It's possible to create color presets for both Compare and Reference colors by clicking on plus symbols. To remove a preset color click on minus sign.


  • In the middle there is a slider to manage Opacity of the data. 

        Moving slider to the left would visualize only what's in To Compare on the left. 

        Moving slider to the right would visualize only what's in Reference on the right.


Reset button would revert all settings to the state shown above - All Models in red vs All Scans in green in full opacity.


Click on cross symbol or on Comparison Tool button on the right vertical menu to exit comparison mode. 


Navigation Controls

  • Mouse:
    • Pan: Dragging the mouse while holding down the scroll wheel or right-clicking allows to pan across the scene. 
    • Zoom: Scrolling mouse wheel or using zoom buttons on navigation controls will adjust zoom level. 
    • Rotate and Tilt: Clicking and dragging scroll wheel while moving mouse up/down or left/right will rotate and tilt the camera, respectively. 
  • Keyboard:
    • Pan: Use arrow keys to pan the scene. 
    • Zoom: Use "+" and "-" keys or Page Up/Page Down keys to zoom in and out. 
    • Rotate: Use A, D, W, and S keys (or other customizable keys) to rotate the camera. 
    • Tilt: Use and keys (or other customizable keys) to tilt the camera. 
    • Navigate Up/Down: Use and keys to move the camera up and down, adjusting the height above the ground. 
  • On-Screen Navigator:
    • Pan: Drag the outer ring of the navigator to pan the scene. 
    • Rotate and Tilt: Drag the inner part of the navigator to rotate and tilt the camera. 
    • Show Full Control: Click Show full control button to access all navigator functionalities.
