Before processing your data in NavVis IVION, the option to "embed panoramas in e57 point cloud" must be enabled. See NavVis Knowledge Base | Point Cloud and Panorama Settings

  • In the Point Cloud Settings, set Point cloud resolution to 5 mm maximum (or less).
  • In the Panorama settings, toggle on the "Include panoramas in .e57 point cloud" option.

After processing and aligning your data in NavVis IVION, download the ".e57 with panoramas" by following these instructions: NavVis IVION Knowledge Base  | Cropping and Downloading .e57 files with panoramas

Upload NavVis Scans Using Cintoo Connect

1. Open your Cintoo project to the DATA tab

2. In your selected project and Work Zone, click "Prepare and upload" under Mobile Scanner, or select "Upload indoor mobile scanner" from the drop-down list

3. Cintoo Connect will open at the "Mobile Laser Scans" tab. Select ‘NavVis IVION’ as the Device / Format:

4. Adjust the process in parallel setting to process more than 2 scans (default setting) in parallel if you have a multi-core PC.

  • On average, you will need at least 400 MB of RAM per 10 million pixels to process
    • 8 GB of RAM will allow you to process 5 scans of 40 million each in parallel.
    • 64 GB of RAM will be needed to process 5 scans of 160 million pixels each in parallel.

5. Select the E57 file as input for Point Cloud:

6. Modify the ‘Positions sampling’ value as needed:

  • For example, '1/1' will create 1 scan location in Cintoo for every panoramic image included in the scanning path. ‘1/4’ will create 1 scan location at every 4th panoramic image included in the scanning path.
  • The number of 3D scans and average distance between each one will be indicated in Cintoo Connect and will be added to your scan count.

7. Enable or disable "Blur faces":

  • It is checked by default, thus enabling the automatic blurring of people captured in any panoramic images included in the scans being uploaded to Cintoo.
  • Uncheck this option to prevent the automatic blurring any people in the panoramic images.
  • Blurring cannot be undone in Cintoo after the scans have been uploaded.
  • Any files uploaded without the 'Blur faces' option enabled must be deleted from the Cintoo project and re-uploaded with the option checked in order to apply automatic blurring.

8. Enable or disable "Import all 360 Images":

  • This option is checked by default, enabling the import of all 360 images included in the scans, even if the using a position sampling value other than 1 of 1 position.
  • Uncheck this option to prevent the automatic import of all 360 images included in the scans .
  • 360 images uploaded with this option will count against the 360 Images capacity of the Cintoo account, not the Scan Capacity.
  • 360 images uploaded with this option will not contain any 3D data. Only the panoramic image will be displayed, so 3D display settings, Measurements, and Annotations cannot be used at these positions.

9. Click ‘Import’

  • Your new 3D scans will appear one by one in your Cintoo project.
  • Check the ‘Messages’ tab from time to time to see if the process is running smoothly.
