- Prerequisites
- Upload NavVis Scans Processed in the NavVis Desktop App
- Uploading NavVis Scans from Multiple Walks/Sessions
Prerequisites
The following files are required to upload the NavVis scans processed in the NavVis Desktop App:
1. Unstructured point cloud in PLY or E57 format.
2. Walking /scanning path in CSV format.
3. This CSV file is usually included in the same folder that contains the panoramic images. Look for a folder call pano or panoramic images where the raw files for the Indoor Mobile device are stored.
Note: If this CSV file is not included in the same folder than the panoramic image, make sure that it contains the path to the images in the right folder. For example, the images could be located in a pano folder, under the folder where the CSV file is. If all the image filenames are prefixed with pano/ in the CSV file, the import workflow will work.
- Example content:
4. Optional: The geolocation information in XML format.
- This geolocation information is usually produced while putting multiple scanning sessions in the same coordinate system.
- For single scanning sessions, this geolocation information is also produced when specifically requesting the E57 file as an export from the registration software.
- This XML file may have a _bundle in it for NavVis data.
- In XML file all scanning sessions are listed with corresponding position and orientation.
- This data will be used by Cintoo Connect for the restructuring process followed by the point cloud-to-mesh transformation and the upload to Cintoo .

Upload NavVis Scans Processed in the NavVis Desktop App
1. Open Data tab and click Prepare & upload on the Mobile laser scans tile, or click Mobile scan from the drop-down Add menu on the top right. Cintoo Connect will launch.
2. From the Mobile Laser Scans tab in Cintoo Connect, select NavVis VLX and M6 as Device/Format.
3. Select the E57 or PLY file as input for Point Cloud.
4. Select the CSV file as Scanning Path.
5. Modify the position sampling value as needed.
- For example, 1 of 1 position will create 1 Virtual Vantage Point (VVP) in Cintoo for every position included in the scanning path CSV. 1 of 4 positions will create 1 VVP at every 4th position included in the scanning path CSV.
- The number of VVPs and average distance between each one will be indicated in Cintoo Connect and will be added to the scan count.
6. Enable/disable Blur faces.
- It is checked by default, thus enabling the automatic blurring of people (i.e. faces) captured in any panoramic images included in the scans being uploaded to Cintoo.
- Uncheck this option to prevent the automatic blurring any people in the panoramic images.
- Blurring cannot be undone in Cintoo after the scans have been uploaded.
- Any files uploaded without the Blur faces option enabled must be deleted from the Cintoo project and re-uploaded with the option checked in order to apply automatic blurring.
7. Enable/disable Import all 360 Images.
- This option is checked by default, enabling the import of all 360 images included in the scans, even if the using a position sampling value other than 1 of 1 position.
- Uncheck this option to prevent the automatic import of all 360 images included in the scans.
- 360 images uploaded with this option will count against the 360 Images capacity of the Cintoo account, not the Scan capacity.
- 360 images uploaded with this option will not contain any 3D data. Only the panoramic image will be displayed, so 3D display settings, Measurements, and Annotations cannot be used at these positions.
8. Adjust the process in parallel setting to process more than 2 scans (default setting) in parallel if you have a multi-core PC.
9. Click Import.
- New 3D scans will appear one by one in Cintoo project
- Check Messages tab from time to time to confirm the process is running smoothly.
Uploading NavVis Scans from Multiple Walks/Sessions
- If the scanning was performed in multiple sessions, it's essential to get each point cloud (in PLY or E57) one by one together with the scanning path for each.
- The geolocation XML will also be mandatory in this case for each E57 import.
Cintoo Connect will look for each point cloud file name in the XML file.
Note: it's possible to run several Cintoo Connect import sessions in parallel if the PC has enough capacity.
