Model Content Explorer

The Model Content Explorer allows you to browse your model hierarchy, elements and metadata if the BIM & CAD Module (BCM) has been activated. See the section Unlocking the BIM & CAD Module for details.

  • Please select the Model Content Explorer in the vertical Explorer toolbar on the left-hand side of the screen. 



  • This will open the Model Content Explorer on the left-hand side.


  • Please note if you have not selected a Model via the Model Explorer the explorer will remain blank and advise you to pick a model to explore its contents.  


  •  With a model selected you will be provided the model hierarchy which can be expanded and searched as required.



  • The Model Content Explorer allows you to browse, search, select or unselect elements of your models. 
  • The following attributes can be searched using the Model Content Explorer search tool:
    • Element Name


  • If the following message appears, the model you are trying to browse has either been exported incorrectly or uploaded before the release of the expanded BIM & CAD module (before Oct 03, 2022). 



  • In this case, you should review your model export settings from your design software and reupload the latest version of the model.   


  • The Model Content Explorer lists several Actions at the bottom of the explorer, related to your selected model item. 




  • You can see Information related to your selected model element by clicking the 'i' icon. 
  • The information panel will appear on the right-hand side of the screen and allow you to browse General information and Properties.



  • If you are utilizing the Cintoo Asset Tagging tools and have created a tag list in your active work zone, you can add model items to the tag list by using the Create Tag button. This will display a list of available tag lists to choose from and add the model element to. 



  • In addition, with a Model element selected in the Model Content Explorer, you can use the tools to the right of the item to quick access hide/show the mode or using the 3 dots you may:
    • Open / Close to expand or collapse the model hierarchy
    • Show it or Hide it in your 3D view
    • Isolate it from the rest of the model in your 3D view
    • Look at to turn your viewpoint towards the selected element (no zoom)
    • Go to, which will zoom your viewpoint to the selected element
    • Focus in 3D Navi to provide a zoom extents of the selected element 



  • You may also select any element of your model directly in the 3D view by using the Pick Models tool in the top toolbar. 



  • Picking a model element in the 3D view will automatically open the Model Content Explorer (if it is not already open). It will also automatically highlight the selected element in the model hierarchy so that you can quickly get to its properties or isolate it for your analysis. 
  • Selected elements will appear in blue in the 3D view. You can unselect the element (and then removed the blue highlight) with a CTRL + Click on the selected element in the Model Content Explorer.
